Adjunct Faculty: Meteorology and Science, Early College
Campus Location: multiple locations
Work schedule: consistent with MCCC contract

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The STEM and Business Division invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach introductory science courses beginning in the Spring 2025 semester. We anticipate course offerings to be taught in-person at our campuses in Lynn and Danvers MA.
Current openings are for an Early College section of:
- GEO110: Meteorology
- Course Description: Surveys the nature of weather conditions and the basic atmospheric processes which create the conditions. Radiation and heat balance, water phase changes, cloud formations, and wind systems are studied. Weather map interpretation and the analysis of violent weather are stressed, and a brief introduction to climatology is included. Fulfills open, liberal arts and science electives. (3 hours of lecture per week)

Other Science courses may be available, and we anticipate offerings in future semesters. Assignments may include daytime or evening classes at our campuses or at high school throughout the region.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach courses as assigned by the Division Dean.
- Prepare course syllabi, proctor and grade course assessments as scheduled, report final student grades, and complete student alerts by the specified dates each semester.
- Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes
- Embrace the ideals of diversity and inclusiveness and support the equal rights of all people by advancing the understanding and appreciation of differences including age, race, gender, ability, religious convictions, socio-economic status, ethnic heritage, or sexual orientation.
- Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
Job Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Meteorology or related field OR a degree in a related field with graduate-level credit in the subject area.
- Evidence of commitment to and experience working with a diverse student body
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
PREFERENCES
- Evidence of successful prior teaching in higher education or high school. Community College teaching experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with Blackboard or similar Learning Management System
- Predisposition to working in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Additional Information:
SALARY: Adjunct salaries are dependent upon the number of credit hours. This is a non-benefited, MCCC position.
